Project title Impact of On-Field Testing of Bio-stimulants Under Mediterranean Conditions
Beneficiary COVIDES S.C.C.L.
Country Spain (Catalonia)
Funding line FSTP Strand 1 – IC4 Field trials of biofertilizers adapted to specific crops
Website www.covides.com

About the project

BIOFIELD-MED tests a biostimulant in vineyards, olive groves and peach orchards, to see how it works under real Mediterranean growing conditions.

First results

  • Field trials started on 3 crops: grapevine, olive and peach
  • 3 treatments compared: biostimulant, reference fertiliser and untreated control
  • All 3 planned applications completed on all crops
  • Soil sampling done to assess nutritional status and microbial activity
  • 3 rounds of vine shoot growth monitoring completed
  • Grape and peach harvest data collected; olive harvest and final measurements are next

Quote

“This project allows us to test biostimulants directly under real growing conditions and better understand how grapevine, olive and peach crops respond. What is particularly valuable is being able to generate field data that helps us assess whether these solutions can fit the productive reality of our members.”

— Josep Maria Galimany, Head of Viticulture, COVIDES

About the project

BIOBOOST-MED tests whether biostimulants help Mediterranean vegetable crops cope with salty irrigation water and maintain production.

First results

  • Greenhouse trials set up at ICTA-UAB (Barcelona) on 3 crops: cucumber, zucchini and eggplant
  • First harvest completed, with production data collected under different salt levels and biostimulant treatments
  • Plant responses measured and samples prepared for laboratory analysis of stress indicators
  • Structured database created; laboratory and statistical analyses are the next step

Quote

“We want to give growers practical evidence on whether biostimulants can help vegetable crops cope with salty irrigation water. Our greenhouse trials are the first step towards assessing their benefits and costs.”

— Pietro Tonini, CEO, Tectum Garden

Project title Validation and market readiness of NDAVANT®, a new natural biostimulant that enhances crop resilience under abiotic stress
Beneficiary PLANeT Biotech S.L.
Country Spain (Catalonia)
Funding line FSTP Strand 2
Website www.planet-biotech.com

About the project

GoNDAVANT validates NDAVANT®, a new natural biostimulant designed to help crops keep performing under heat and other environmental stresses.

First results

  • Application strategies and evaluation protocols established
  • Dose-response trials on tomato, under optimal and stress conditions
  • Field validation underway in one of Europe’s main processing tomato regions
  • Trial design adapted with direct feedback from local growers

Quote

“With GoNDAVANT, we are moving NDAVANT® closer to the field and to the growers who will ultimately use it. Validating its performance under real heat-stress conditions is a key step towards turning our science into impact.”

— Andrea Giordano, Co-founder & Head of Research Platform, PLANeT Biotech
